MAY 7, 2006
--
Play gets underway May 11 on Central Park's North Meadow fields.
The official opening is set for May 25.
Commissioner Tom Godrey told LPR that
the BSL is the largest of the Central Park leagues.
He expects the players will include Matthew Broderick and David Schwimmer.
LPR wonders if Shuler Hensley, Tony winner (as Jud in "Oklahoma!!")
and now featured in Tarzan, which opens May 10 at the Richard Rodgers Theater
on 46th Street, will return to the BSL this season.
BSL games are played on Thursdays, and starting May 25 will use fields on the
Great Lawn as well as North Meadow. The Great Lawn is located between 81st
and 86th Streets. North Meadow is close to 100th Street. BSL games are free
to spectators.

when United for Peace and Justice was denied a permit
to hold a rally on the site the day before the Republican
