Bob Dole, Apparently, Regrets ...

September 1, 2013 --

Three months ago, former Senate Republican leader and 1996 presidential candidate Bob Dole advised the Rep[ublican National Committee to close shop for the rest of 2013 and come up with new ideas.

LPR senses, however, that Mr. Dole is no longer interested in reiterating his comments expressed after Barry Goldwater got the GOP presidential nomination, July 1964. At the time, then Congressman Dole was quoted in Time magazine: "Goldwater's victory anchors a party which has been adrift for some years.

Now we can, in candor, go out and make speeches for spending cuts and sound conservative principles, certain that we won't be undercut by the leaders of our own party." LPR has a hunch that, 49 years later, Bob Dole is on the side of the undercutters.
