Some Brief Observations Concerning…

May 5, 2016 --

…Sen. Bernie Sanders. He claims there are two sides to the Arabs and Israelis. (LPR is not sure if Sanders would say it was a war, conflict, dispute, situation, or perhaps just unfair-against-the-Palestinians matter.) LPR agrees that there are indeed two sides. On the one side there is Israel, who would like to live in peace. On the other side there is, for example, Hamas, who would like to live in an Islamic State of Palestine on the ashes of Israel.

…Hillary Clinton. Will she ever get asked what was the purpose of our leased Benghazi facility that came under attack on September 11, 2012, and, further, why was the late Amb. Stevens in Benghazi at the time? (LPR does not buy the claim that the ambassador was in Benghazi to open a community center in that militia-ravaged city.)

…The IRS Scandal and the Leftist Media. Apparently the leftist media, led by The New York Times, intends to cover up this scandal – based on mistreatment of conservative groups-- until after November 8, if not forever. Prof. Jonathan H. Adler estimated, the first week of April, that some 513 days had elapsed since the tv networks last mentioned the scandal. Add about another 25 days to that total as of this LPR posting. And The New York Times continues to keep under wraps the Six Circuit ruling ordering the IRS to cooperate with discovery requests in the NorCal Tea Party Patriots litigation against the agency. LPR has learned from a Tea Party source that the IRS has begun to comply with the discovery order. This does not, of course, prevent the media from accusing Republicans of mistreating the IRS. (See, e.g., this story in The New York Times, April 22, at p. A14: “I.R.S/ Supporters Fight Back/Against Republican Offensive.”)

…Netanyahu and Putin. Have you seen images of a smiling Russian President V. Putink, cordially greeting a smiling Israeli Prime Minister B. Netanyahu in Moscow? One place you did not see these images was in The New York Times which, to LPR’s knowledge, did not report the Netanyahu-Putin meeting, two weeks ago. (Apparently The New York Times has kicked over the traces and is just no longer going to report news it doesn’t like.) Notwithstanding the warmth suggested by the smiling images, there are “experts” warning of the “complexities” resulting from ties with Putin. Curiously, these “experts” do not point to the “complexities” surrounding strained relationships with the Obama administration.

…Mona Charen. This conservative guest on the John Batchelor program was caught by LPR in an Eliza Doolittle-at-the tea party moment, a few weeks ago, dropping a vulgar term while she was indicating her unease with the Trump candidacy. LPR is probably mistaken, but wonders, is there a certain, uh, throatiness in Ms. Charen’s voice when she talks about the New York businessman?
