From
Albany
This writer received a letter last month from New York State warning that my
federal tax refund will be seized. (What refund?)
Concerned that I had not mailed payment to Albany, or that payment had been
lost, I checked with my bank -- to learn that payment had been received by
the state on November 9. The nasty letter was dated November 19.
Are New York State computers programmed to raise people's blood pressure?
From NYC
Apparently photographic evidence is not suifficient for Parking Violations
Bureau administrative law judges. Last July, LPR mentioned the PVB attempt
to tow the LPRmobile for being in a truck zone. |
|
The tow was halted
when a PVB supervisor acknowledged there was no sign declaring a truck
zone. Upholding the parking fine, the ALJ ruling apparently allowed
for the possibility that maybe somewhere on the block there was a sign.
(Has this ALJ been influenced by a Jackie Mason routine?)
LPR is demanding an investigation.
Last April, a friend had me park in front of his garage while I visited for a
few minutes. Returning to the car, there was a summons for parking on the sidewalk.
The summons had the wrong address listed.
Ah, saved by technicality I thought. Of course not -- another ALJ apparently
disregarding photographic evidence of a wrong address. Hmm. Could PVB have an
enemies list? Perhaps worth a freedom of information demand.
LPR thinks it is time for motorists in NYC -- indeed across the country -- to
organize. More on this next time.
