LPR saw an online report, January 27, that Democrats, now certain to lose their anti-Trump move in the Senate, propose "censure" as alternative. Sen. Phil Gramm responded to a censure move, during the Clinton impeachment, by pointing out that censure of a president is not provided for in the Constitution. The move to censure Bill Clinton was dropped. Additionally, censure of a private citizen would clearly violate the Constitution's ban on bills of attainder. Republicans (Sen. Rand Paul, or Sen Ted Cruz?) must call this to the public's attention. |
Perhaps Democrats would refrain from providing non-constitutional or unconstitutional methods to tear into private citizen Donald J. Trump had they been taught about the Constitution in their schooling.
