"Censure" is not sanctioned in the Constitution

February 5, 2021 --

LPR saw an online report, January 27, that Democrats, now certain to lose their anti-Trump move in the Senate, propose "censure" as alternative.  Sen. Phil Gramm responded to a censure move, during the Clinton impeachment, by pointing out that censure of a president is not provided for in the Constitution. The move to censure Bill Clinton was dropped.  Additionally, censure of a private citizen would clearly violate the Constitution's ban on bills of attainder.  Republicans (Sen. Rand Paul, or Sen Ted Cruz?) must call this to the public's attention.

Perhaps Democrats would refrain from providing non-constitutional or unconstitutional methods to tear into private citizen Donald J. Trump had they been taught about the Constitution in their schooling.
