The Chicago Cubs Return

JUNE 19, 2005 --

Not since the 1938 World Series had the Chicago Cubs played in Yankee Stadium. Before that, the Cubs were at the Stadium for the 1932 World Series. Both events
results in four-games sweeps by the Yankees.

Accordingly, it appears that the Cubs came to the Bronx, June 17, 18, 19 on a four game losing streak at Yankee Stadium.

LPR met one Cubs fan June 17 -- Jerry Deron, a part-trime bartender from Memphis. LPR photographed members of the Cubs team and two more fans on June 17.

These fans, told by LPR that it is unlikely
the Cubs will again play in this Yankee Stadium suggested otherwise -- that they would be here in October. A point worth bearing in mind.

As irt stands, however, the Cubs have lost seven straight games at The House that Ruth Built -- over seventy-three years of
course.

LPR noted that the atmosphere when the Cubs arrived was a lot less tense than whern the Red Sox are the visiting team. And Greg Maddux and Manager Dusty Baker were friendly replying to greetings from LPR; Manager Baker indicating he would like the Stadium a lot more if the team won a game here.
