SEPTEMBER 6, 2007 --

Mayor Bloomberg, August 19, announced formation of a street conditions observation unit (SCOUT) to report on … street conditions. This 15-person unit will be drawn from several city agencies, including Transportation, Parks and Buildings and Sanitation. The team will be equipped with Blackberrys and use GPS to locate problems.

On several occasions previously, LPR posted images of NYC potholes. LPR did so without aid of a Blackberry or GPS gadget. Herewith, LPR posts images of three more potholes, including one, on Middletown Road, in the Bronx that caught the LPRmobile the evening of September 2.

The pothole the LPR Mobile struck on Sept. 2nd, photographed on Sept. 3rd.

LPR returned next day for this image. Note another pothole lurks nearby. LPR photographed the other hazards to cars -- on Kingsbridge Road and in front of 3725 Henry Hudson Parkway, as well as the Middletown Road obstacle, September 3. All three hazards are in The Bronx.

LPR wonders why Parking Violations, which certainly travels abroad the city, was not asked to call in potholes. Perhaps a missed parking ticket is a terrible thing to waste?
