Collateral to the Jeffrey Epstein Situation

August 19, 2019 --

Matters colloateral to Jeffrey Epstein's sexual proclivities are likely to be the subject of press interest for quite some time. A few years ago, Ghislaine Maxwell was sued by Virginia L. Giuffre for defamation. Maxwell accused Giuffre of lying about Maxwell's role as source of underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell was long asssociated with Epstein as girlfriend, and business partner. In court papers, Giuffre pointed to Maxwell as "Convicted Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's Procurer of Underage Girls."

The Giuffre action against Maxwell was settled in 2017. Giuffre also accused law professor Alan Dershowitz of having sex with her, via his friendship with Epstein.

(She has also claimed to have had sex, arranged by Epstein, with a number of prominent personalities.)

Dershowitz accused Giuffre of lying and her defamation suit against him will soon get underway. Giuffre's lawyers include David Boies, and he has tussled with Dershowitz consequent to his representation of Giuffre.

To add to this fascinating scenario, Giuffre was recruited for Epstein when she was spotted working as a teen-age locker room attendant at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club. (She has not accused Mr. Trump of any improprieties.)

Maxwell is the daughter of Robert Maxwell, head of a British publishing empire. Maxwell drowned off the Canary Islands in November 1991. The inquest determined that he suffered a heart attack and that the death was accidental. Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly believes her father was murdered. As of August 13, her whereabouts were unknown; consequently there was no word of her reaction to the death of Epstein.
