Advice to College Graduates

MARCH 31, 2008 --

We are approaching the Season of Commencement and LPR has learned that CNN's Bill Schneider will address Brandeis University graduates, May 18.  Mr. Schneider is a member of the Brandeis Class of 1966 (this writer is member of the Class of 1962).

LPR responded to the news about the Schneider selection with a letter to The Justice, the Brandeis student newspaper, suggesting that Mr. Schneider might not have LPR's knowledge of the travails afflicting us ordinary citizens.  (The letter was posted on the Justice site.)

Since writing that letter, it has occurred to LPR that a commencement speaker should advise graduates to limit credit cards (if it is not already too late) to one.

That way there is less chance that one card might get misplaced, leading to late payment and all sorts of predatory fees, penalties and interest rates.
