Come To The Fair

JULY 25, 2006 --

The 39th Annual Connecticut Agricultural Fair, in Goshen--on route 63, just down from Route 4 -- officially opens at 10 A.M. this Friday--July 28 and continues through 7 P.M. on Sunday, July 30. The fair
closes at 9 P.M. Friday, and is open Saturday from 8 A.M. to 9 P.M.,and opens Sunday at 9 A.M.

In between those 34 hours are cattle judging, ox pulls, tractor pulls, a horse show, an auction, poultry and sheep judging, showing of swine. And much more traditional fair fare.

In addition to agricultural competition,
demonstrations and displays, there is the midwa y-- with rides, amusements, and a
wide variety of snacks and refreshments not easily found beyond the fairgrounds.

The entertainment includes a bit of folk music history. The  opening performer at Woodstock 1969 -- Richie Havens -- takes the Main Stage on Saturday at 6 p.m.  Also on the Main Stage Saturday, at 4 P.M. is the Thunder Road Band.

 

Friday's entertainment includes The Wanderers, at 6 P.M accompanying
the fair's Cruise Night, featuring classic and antique cars.   And women's basketball great Rebecca Lobo will be on hand at 7 P.M. to sign autographs.   New
England Patriot's John Smith will be at the Fair Saturday at 11.30 AM and Sunday at 5 P.M. to sign autographs. 

Sunday's entertainment includes country music's Chad Burdick who will be on the main stage at 2:30 P.M. and 4 P.M.  And signing autographs at noon will be comedienne Andrea Kolb, who recently appeared on Oprah Winfrey Show.
