The Passing of a
Cooperative Free Enterpriser

AUGUST 4, 2008 --

It seems as if the LPRmobile has taken it on itself to fight oil prices.  The car, with more than 130 thousand miles, continues to get better than 30 mpg on interstate highways..

It is almost as if the car has some of the spirit of Barbara Capuano, who with her former husband Ralph Capuano, owned Capuano Cadillac Buick in Torrington, Ct., where I purchased the car and the one before it. The dealership was sold a few years ago to Northwest Hills, also in Torrington.

Barbara Capuano passed away recently, after a long illness.  She exemplified
cooperative free enterprise, taking an interest in her customers whom she regarded as extended family, spending time to talk with them and listen to ther problems.

Had Ms. Capuano headed GM, LPR is certain it would not be in the difficulty it finds itself today.

Indeed, if American business in general emulated the cooperative free enterprise spirit of Barbara Capuano, the economy would be glowing with prosperity for all. (And, of course, she was very fond of Shana.) May the kind and keen spirit of Barbara Capuano  continue here on earth and may she be at rest in Heaven.
