Isn't it curious that LSD in reverse
Gives us DSL, which initially might be worse
I mean LSD is said to cause hallucination
For me, setting up DSL caused a bit of aggravation
Try to explain a problem to an artificial voice
Who comes back to offer meaningless choice
Hear at regular intervals how important is your call
Your real world options: hang up or accept the stall
A considerable wait, then a live voice is on the line
And now you think everything will be fine
You follow the live instructions as far as they go
Then are switched to Mac -- to learn it's a guy from Windows
Who explained a Mac he doesn't really operate
The DSL nightmare continues
Reality -- you do not hallucinate

This poem is
based, alas, on my experience connecting the Verizon-AOL DSL
to my computer.
The CD said it should take less than an hour. Installing went quickly. Setting
up the account was something else.
Things might have gone smoother if artificial life did not take calls, or had
sent me to Mac.
I learned from a live person that the the automatic switch to Mac often does
not work.
LPR recommends that Verizon head Ivan Seidenberg spend some time trying to
communicate with his company's artificial phone voice.
