The Economic War Continues

JANUARY 4, 2008 --

Oil prices tell LPR that the economic war against our country continues.  The folks in Washington, at best, seem clueless. LPR can, however, imagine what George Bailey would say. He would just  make a few changes in the speech he made during the run on the bank scene in "It's A Wonderful Life" (adapted from the text on page 208 of "The It's A Wonderful Life Book,"by Jeanine Basinger (Alfred A. Knopf, 1986).

"Don't you see what's happening? The oil interests aren't selling. The oil interests are buying. And why? Because we let them take advantage of us. We can get through this, but we need to work together.  We need to believe in each other and stay committed to being independent and strong."

LPR has a hunch it's time for us to cut down on driving up to the gas pump -- and  maybe time to ask the folks in Washington, and also those who want to be in the White House -- whose side are you on, anyway?
