Once Again the Media Rushed to False Conclusions About President Trump

June 19, 2021 --

A year ago, the media came down on President Trump,  accusing him of using force to clear demonstrators in Lafayette Park so that he could have a photo op at a vandalized church.  A government report (issued with Biden in the White House!) released June 9 declared that there was no connection between the action removing protesters from the part and the President's walk to the church.  Here are the lead paragraphs from a New York Post story on the report:

"An internal government investigation found no evidence that protesters were forced out of a park near the White House last year to clear the way for then-President Donald Trump to pose for photos outside a graffitied church.

“'Thank you to the Department of the Interior Inspector General for Completely and Totally exonerating me in the clearing of Lafayette Park!'” the 45th president said.

"Interior Department Inspector General Mark Lee Greenblatt released a 37-page report Wednesday that said the violent clearout at Lafayette Park had nothing to do with Trump’s photo op — concluding that a contractor installing “antiscale fencing in response to destruction of property and injury to officers” the previous two days was instead to blame."

The New York Post is one of the few newspapers that can be trusted in its reporting on former President Trump. From the outset of Mr. Trump's presidency, the media's coverage of him has been mendacious, beginning with that Russia collusion fantasy.  Their only accuracy in reporting about Mr. Trump is the spelling of his name.

From that point, the dissembling begins. LPR would not be surprised if the likes of an AOC shout, about the government report on the Lafayette Park episode:  "coverup, coverup."
