Faso for Governor

JUNE 5, 2006 --

New York Republicans nominated John Faso as their gubernatorial candidate in the November election.

Mr. Faso, former GOP leader in the state assembly, still faces a primary challenge from William Weld, former governor of Massachusetts.

LPR supports Mr. Faso in the primary and in the general election. When the New York establishment was tightening the
screws on Dayton Seaside -- using a bizarre property tax claim to force the buildings into bankruptcy to get new owners -- this writer was able to get a fair hearing in only one government office in the State of New York -- the office of the assembly minority leader -- the office of John Faso.

This writer learned a lot from the Dayton Seaside travesty that is not reported in the media. One lesson was that John
Faso's door is open to all, not just to insiders. What a wonderful thing it would be to have as governor of New York a person who effectively follows the advice of Federalist 57 that our leaders should stay close to the people.

In the 1965 New York mayoral election, the late Murray Kempton wrote of candidate John V. Lindsay, something like -- "He is fresh and everyone else is
tired." John Faso believes in public service; all the rest follow personal ambition.
