August 19, 2017 --

The terrible events in Charlottesville, Va., August 12, called to mind this item posted at LPR, June 5, 2016:

Last December, Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, from Portland, Oregon, allegedly drove her car onto the Las Vegas Boulevard sidewalk at several places, killing one, Jessica Valenzuela, 32, of Buckeye Az, a mother of three, and reportedly injuring some 35 other people. In March, Ms. Holloway, facing charges including murder and attempted murder, was ordered to undergo mental evaluation. LPR was informed, late last month, by the district attorney’s office, that Ms. Holloway “has been committed.”

A Google search, August 14, indicated that Ms. Holloway, now 26, will go on trial next February. There was no media or political uproar over this tragedy. (More recently. May 18, Richard Rojas, 26, allegedly drove his car into pedestrians in New York City's Times Square, killing 1 and injury 20 others.)
