JUNE 19,
2006 --
In the main, prices continue to be at the "spike" levels
of late summer, last year.
A Mobil station a few miles south of Hudson, New York (on Route 9G) surprised
LPR with regular at $2.89.9.
This is the first time in months that LPR has seen regular below $2.90.
Yet this price is still far too high for our common good, LPR believes. Note
that at this level, a little more than 12 gallons costs $36.18. With Oil and
Banks indulging in economic disinhibition, how long can the economy be said
to be "booming?"
Sean Hannity, chatting on his radio program with James Carville, last Friday,
asserted that stocks are "booming."
Mr. Carville was kind not to ask Mr. Hannity if "booming" describes
the performance of GE and Time Warner (held by this writer)
