A Gates Retrospective

FEBRUARY 5, 2006 --

February 12 marks the first anniversary of "The Gates," the work of art by Christo and Jeanne-Claude that drew hundreds of thousands of people to Central Park, for a few weeks, last February.

(The last of the artwork was taken down last March 11.)

There were some grumbles, but most people, as far as LPR could tell, responded with enjoyment and smiles as
they walked beneath The Gates, throughout most of Central Park.

LPR here offers a photo of the The Gates
at the start of the project, another photo of Gates waiting to be unfurled, and a small collection of the Gates as the work of art envisioned by Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
