NOVEMBER 20, 2007 --
LPR saw a pre-Halloween report predicting that city children would be staying home this Halloween. Not along Manhattan's Ninth Avenue, in midtown. The sidewalks of this thoroughfare, in the west 40's, was filled with parent strolling with their children, collecting treats from shops and passersby.
LPR left midtown for the Halloween parade, on Sixth Avenue, in Greenwich Village and found thousands of smiling people, of all ages, waitingfor the bands, paper figures, costumed people and floats that march up the avenue to the merriment of thousands of spectators braving the night Halloween air, as if to prepare for the great daytime event just three weeks away, this year: the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
