The Hamas Reaction to Israel's New Government

June 19, 2021 --

The following is the Hamas reaction to Israel's new government headed by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, as reported by Aljazeera:  The Bennett government includes four Israeli Arabs,  Will they agree that the property dispute in Jerusalem is a landlord-tenant matter over non-payment of rent, or will they join anti-Israel demagogues who falsely assert it is a form of ethnic cleansing to place more Jewish settlers in Jerusalem?

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum insisted that no matter the colour of the new administration, Israel “remains a colonial entity”.

“Regardless of the shape of the government in Israel, it will not alter the way we look at the Zionist entity,” Barhoum said. “It is an occupation and a colonial entity, which we should resist by force to get our rights back,” he added.

This response is consistent with the Hamas Charter that is committed to Jihad against Israel, and rules out negotiations.  Article 30 of the Hamas Charter considers someone who supports Hamas with public statements a jihadist.  By this token, LPR believes it fair to conclude that for Hamas, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D.-Mn.) is a jihadist (holy warrior).
