Daniel Henninger on the January 6 Commission, and Donald J. Trump

June 6, 2021 --

Daniel Henninger, in his May 27 Wall Street Journal column, "The Pelosi Commission Fiasco " recognizes that the idea for the commission is a symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome, which Henninger suggests is irrational animosity directed at the former president.

Yet the tone of Henninger's column seems to apportion some blame for the January 6 melee at the Capitol on Mr. Trump and goes on to opine that a Democrat will be elected president if Trump is again the GOP nominee, in 2024.

LPR would suggest to Mr. Henninger that he wait until after the 2022 congressional elections before ruling out a Trump re-election in 2024.

Mr. Henninger concluded his column (that managed to be anti-Trump as well as opposed to a January 6 commission) comparing the January 6 melee to the Red Brigades capture and murder, in 1978,  of one-time Italian premier Aldo Moro. Mr. Henninger, it was a cop who killed Ashli Babbitt, not a "terrorist."   And that unpleasantness at the Capitol, January 6 of this year, took up  less time than your average Major League Baseball game.  And the magnitude of lives lost, property damage wreaked, and general chaos sowed by antifa and BLM throughout the long hot year of 2020 goes light years beyond that eye-blink summed up as "Jan. 6."

Only someone afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome would, LPR believes, disagree.
