How are we doing in Iraq?

JUNE 27, 2005 --

Murders by "insurgents" continue to get prominent mention in a media that seems inpatient with, and probably also disagrees with, the Bush policy in Iraq.

Who are the insurgents? Are they limitless in numbers? Are they mainly Iraqis -- or jihadists or mercenaries brought to Iraq? Who is funding these
"insurgents"? Where is their center or centers of operations? Are we striking at the "insurgents" as hard as we should?

Are we being slowed by media attention on detainees at Guantanma Bay? If the
detainess were released--which countries would they return to -- would they then resume their "insurgency" status?

Have we seen any protests -- in the US or
abroad -- against suicide bombers? Are these killers accepted as justified warriors?

On the left, there seems so much concern about security measures in the PATRIOT act and little if any denunciation of atrocities such as those committed by crazed zealots who apparently regard it a good deed to die in the act of killing tens or hundreds of innocent people.

Would we require a PATRIOT act if we were not at war with "insurgents?"

LPR believes "suicide bombings" that randomly kill civilians should put to a vote at the United Nations. How would the world commubnity come out on this. Would a large majority view these bombings as atrocities -- or a justified form of -- belligerency or defense.

For that matter, has Congress taken a stand denouncing suicide killers? Would the media support such a stand?
