The Spirit of John Lennon Lives

DECEMBER 15, 2007 --

It is 27 years since John Lennon was murdered in front of the Dakota, his residence on 72nd Street and Central Park West. To mark the December 8 anniversary, a trans-generational gathering visited Strawberry Fields just inside Central Park, across from the Dakota, throughout the day, singing his songs, lighting candles, placing flowers at the "Imagine" mosaic.

Strawberry fields, comprising a two and a half acre section of the park, was named for Lennon's song, "Strawberry Field Forever," and dedicated to his memory on what would have been his 45th birthday, October 9, 1985.

Indications from the December 8, 2007 tributes are that the spirit of John Lennon will continue to live on, from generation to generation to generation.

This young woman told LPR that she was born after John Lennon was killed and and that his music is relevant to her.
