Statement of Senate Judiciary Committee Members Vary in Direct Proportion to Allotted Time?

JANUARY 15, 2006 --

Senators were given 20 minutes to ask questions of Justice Rehnquist at the 1986 hearing on his nomination to be Chief Justice of the United States.

The time for questions at the Alito hearing was increased by 50 percent -- to 30 minutes. LPR takes no position whether this is an argument against televising Senate judiciary Committee hearings on Supreme Court nominations.
