A New York Times/Siena poll, reported in the July 14 paper, made it apparent that politics would be the driving force of a push to put former president Trump on trial.

According to the poll, eighty-nine percent of Democrats contend that the former president has committed crimes, while eighty percent of Republicans say he has not. LPR attributes the disparity to sheer politics, not actual wrongdoing.

LPR has just one question based on this finding: would a Democrat be believable by insisting he or she would give Mr. Trump a fair trial?

Answer: no way.
