MARCH
12, 2004 --
March is the traditional time when incumbent presidents announce that they will
not seek a second term. If President Bush wanted to confound his political enemies,
he might tell the nation that he will not actively seek the re-election and is
releasing his convention delegates from any commitment to him. How refreshing
it would be to have a presidential candidate announce that he |

seeks the presidency,
and not the job of chief headhunter -- a candidate he declared
that he is committed to the populism of our constitutional
system -- and who would dare to chide an aggrandizing addict
like Warren Buffett for using a quote from Mark Twain without
giving the source -- his recent comment about putting all his
eggs in one basket and watching that basket. (It appears in "Pudd'nhead
Wilson") |
