LPR Links

July 5, 2021 --

Three Frank Capra movies pit a lone individual against the entire media:  "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town," "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," and "Meet John Doe."

LPR visitors will be forgiven if they "link" the fictional "Meet John Doe" to the reality of Donald J. Trump against the media -- and the deep state. "Meet John Doe" is provided at no cost and -- without any commercial interruptions.  Barbara Stanwyck and James Gleason are particularly terrific in this remarkable movie.

This link is to a very special movie that should be required viewing for all the honorary jihadists in the Biden administration, the staffers at a certain public interest law firm in The Bronx, and elsewhere, who,  per Article 30 of the Hamas charter, sympathizing with the brutal, terrorist Hamas, move in the  lockstep typical of totalitarian regimes.

Here is a link to another movie -- "March or Die" -- a variation on a theme of "Beau Geste," starring Gene Hackman, Terence Hill, Catherine DeNeuve, Max von Sydow and Ian Holm.  The film was reportedly a box office disappointment, but perhaps LPR's will like it.

The conclusion of Gound's Faust.   In the silent film The Phantom of the Opera, Christine made her smashing debut as Marguerite in Faust and the script notes specifically referred to this trio.  The music of the 2004 movie was all Andrew Lloyd Webber's music.

In that film, Raoul was played by Patrick Wilson who played Curley in "Oklahoma" and is a very good softball player, having played on the Oklahoma team in the Broadway Show League, nearly 20 years ago.  Shuler Hensley, who played Jud Fry in that production, was a teammate of Patrick, and also is a terrific athlete.

Linking to Loyalty-challenged Liz --  a/k/a Changeling Cheney

LPR thinks this development points to Ms. Cheney changing political horses very soon.   She will be the only GOPer (for now) on the Get the Republicans House committee conceived by Pelosi the anti-Democratic Democrat.
