MARCH 28,
2007 --
March 18, LPR saw "Pan's
Labyrinth," which was not a film based on Greek mythology, but
a film about the ongoing violence in Spain, five years after the
end
of the Spanish Civil War. Definitely worth seeing.
March 25, LPR went to Loew's AMC at Lincoln Square for an early showing of "Reign
Over Me," a film about the ongoing anguish of 9/11 on a dentist, (played
by
Adam Sandler) who lost his wife and their three daughters on a plane that flew
into a World Trade Center tower.
Don Cheadle plays Sandler's roommate at dental school who, spotting his roommate
after many years, resumes their friendship and tries to help him emerge from
his grief. LPR recommends this film, in
particular, to those who believe we must "move on" (and away) from
9/11.

Donald Sutherland,
for LPR, was very effective as a judge presiding over a hearing to
determine if the Sandler character should be committed for up to one
year in a psychiatric facility.
The showing of this film about a traumatized dentist was marred by the sound
of … drilling heard during much of the first half of the movie. Although
the
noise reportedly came from an adjoining store, the management of this Loew's
AMC outlet voluntarily gave free passes to everyone in the audience, good for
any other AMC movie.
An LPR tip of the Federalist 57 cap to Loews AMC at Lincoln Square.
