LPR Predicts …

MAY 30, 2008 --

... that Major League Baseball (MLB) will cover the medical expenses incurred by Susan Rhodes whose jaw reportedly was broken in two places when she was allegedly struck on the head by part of a shattered bat said to have been wielded by a member of the Colorado Rockies in the April 25 game at Dodger Stadium.

LPR understands that the initial reponse of the Dodgers has been to use the "assumption of risk" defense to avoid responsibility for Ms. Rhodes claimed injuries.   LPR would mention a different phrase: "res ipsa loquitur" certainly concerning the public relations repercussions of a  hardline position by MLB.

We give hundreds of thousands of dollars for a coffee burn, and not one cent for a broken jaw said to have required surgery and screws and a titanium plate?

In considering the response of MLB to Ms Rhodes, can we avoid noting the amount of dollars MLB receives from … the very fans who now must put limb and head, if not life, at assumption of risk if severely injured by an object coming from the field?

LPR expects the matter will be settled, quietly.
