More LPR Ruminations About Presidential Candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton's Claim She was Once "Dead Broke"

July 5, 2015 --

An article in The New York Times, June 21, discussed Ms. Clinton's vacation history from the time she was First Lady up to the present. The article pointed out that in 2011 and 2012, Ms. Clinton and the former president rented an "eight-bedroom, 12,000 square-foot East Hampton [Long Island]" house " with a heated pool that the couple took for part of August, the kind of house that typically goes for $200,000 per month...." Last year, according to the Timnes story, the Clintons took a "seven-bedroom" house at the far end of Long Island "that rents for $100,000 for the month of August...."

Just to focus on the latter rental, while one hundred thousand dollars might be an easy pickings for an hour's talk by the former secretary of state, it can take a social security recipient SEVEN YEARS to receive $100 thousand. How can a member of the Upper One Percent relate to those of us on social security who, the last several days before the next social security money arrives, live on dry cereal with milk. Ms. Clinton famously told the country that after leaving the White House she was broke. Did Ms. Clinton have to live on dry cereal and milk. Was she unable to pay auto repair bills? LPR thinks not.
