Law & Order: On Location

JUNE 5, 2005 --

Law & Order: Criminal Intent visited Riverdale Avenue, in the northwest corner of The Bronx, May 31, for location filming.

A few months ago, Law & Order -- perhaps a different unit in the L&O family -- was on location on the same thoroughfare, occasioning a letter in The Riverdale Press, a local weekly, noting
how parking bans to accomodate the show's vehicles causes some strain on residents -- in the case of the letterwriter, bringing a sick child to a doctor, with
both parent and physician delayed for lack of parking.

No Parking due to filming.

When Law & Order visits, parking is banned for most of the day, although the show's gear might not arrive until 5 p.m.

Truck loads of Law and Order gear make navigating the area difficult.

Local merchants say that they lose business, because of the all-day parking ban, when Law & Order visits. Perhaps the parking ban might be reduced -- and with some interaction between the TV people and local residents.

The treats shown in one of the accompanying photos are not part of a block party for the people of the area; they are for the crew.

The location of the Riverdale Avenue set was a former jewelry store that was revived to be a jewelry store for the show.

Nearing the set, LPR noticed Chris Noth
and tried to get a photo of him, with one crew member asking me to move along.
Perhaps Mr, Noth had an idea that LPR was hovering. Suddenly, after LPR got
two profile photos, Mr. Noth turned in the direction of the LPR camera just as he was about to enter the set. After LPR got this third photo, Mr. Noth first made a face, then smiled -- LPR thanked him, and the star smiled a bit more broadly as he headed for the temporarly-revived -- but ficitional -- jewelry store on Riverdale Avenue.
