The 2008 Macys
Thanksgiving Day Parade (Part Two)

DECEMBER 23, 2008 --

These images of this year's Macys parade, are mainly of the entertainers that were in the procession from 77th Street to 34th Street.

Included, certainly, is an image of the star of this, and every, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santa Claus (see Observations in the right column). Entertainers not shown include Trace Adkins, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Andy Williams, Miranda Cosgrove, Kermit the Frog,

According to a Macy's press release the parade has 10,000 participants and more than 3 million spectators along the route, with 50 million people watching on television.

(For LPR even if the live count is somewhat lower, lots and lots of people turn out for the parade, in addition to those watching from apartment and office windows along the parade route.)

The marching bands were from: James Bowie High School, Austin, Texas; Copiague High School, Copiague New York; Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, Arkansas; Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia; The Second Time Arounders Marching Band, St. Petersburg, Florida; Macy's Great American Marching Band, U.S.; James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia; Nogales High School, La Puente, California; Sioux Falls
Lincoln Marching Band, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and West Johnstown High School, Benson, North Carolina.

The first Macy's parade was in 1924. The 83rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is only eleven months away. May the Spirit of America be as bright as the colors of the parade next Thanksgiving Day.
