Andrew C. McCarthy on the "harmony" of Islamist and Leftist views.

July 17, 2013 --

Andrew C. McCarthy left the 1995 prosecution of Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman for the 1993 bombing of New York's World Trade Center. Last August, wiriting at PJ Media, McCarthy noted that Islamists and Leftists "are in harmony on basic big-picture matters."

He noted that both are anti-capitalist, emphasize the good of the collective over individual liberty, and, thus, aim for "centralized control of people's lives down to the smallest details."

Mr. McCarthy's insight explains how President Obama, as a committed leftist (not opposed to the accumulation of wealth, if accumulated by political cronies) saw the Muslim Brotherhood as an organization of kindred spirits.
