Media Bias

September 1, 2014 --

Consider the lead sentence in this New York Times story, August 28, below this headline: "Immigration Clash Could Lead to Shutdown"-- As President Obama nears a decision on taking broad executive action to reshape the nation's immigration system, Republicans are threatening to force a confrontation over what they describe as a power grab by refusing to finance some or all of the moves." Never would The New York Times suggest that it is President Obama who is forcing a confrontation by "taking broad executive action to reshape the nation's immigration system."

Obviously, the Times is signaling Republicans that if they push back against imperialistic action by President Obama, the Times will lead the media in denouncing the GOP for forcing the president to shutdown the government, and, voila, Democrats will capture majorities in House and Senate, in November. For LPR, it makes no difference if Republicans win a Senate majority.

The Not-Democrat leadership in the GOP will probably back down on any imperialistic action taken by the president, lest they be accused of racism, shutting down government, things like that. (LPR continues to believe that if Republicans somehow win a Senate majority, along with its present House majority, anti-GOP protests, comparable to the protests in Kiev, last winter, that overthrew the Ukraine president, will, with administration approval, occupy Washington and perhaps even be addressed by European leaders in support of President Obama.)
