JANUARY
29, 2007 --
Thought I heard
to imply, during your chat with Chris Wallace, on Fox, January 21,
that the ideas and suggestions you send to the White House are ignored.
Know how you feel. My entreaties to your people seem to get similarly dismissive
treatment.
How about this? Take the recent comment from Republican National Committee
chairman Mike Duncan that the GOP should stand for limited government, lower
taxes and individual responsibility -- arguably the three legs of freedom--add
to it the populist counsel in Federalist 57, and bear in mind the wisdom of
Machiavelli (reformers must defeat the old order to gain support from the people)
and Chief Justice John Marshall (don't be confused by glib talk) and get together
with Joe Lieberman to establish a political party faithful to our Founding
Spirit.

Newt
-- for all the talk about divisiveness in Washington, there is, as
LPR sees it, an unhealthy bipartisanship these days -- a bipartisanship
that has effectively formed a New Aristocracy.
Political aristocracy -- regarding power as birthright, not transient public
responsibility -- is not what the Founding Spirit was all about.
No problem if you don't get back to me -- so long as you get together with
Joe.
