NASCAR: The 2007 Chase
for the Nextel Cup

OCTOBER 1, 2007 --

This is the last year when the Nextel Cup will be awarded to the NASCAR champion. Next year the champion will receive the Sprint Cup -- suggesting, of course, that the ten races to determine the NASCAR champion might be called the Sprint to the Cup.

Sepotember 16, LPR was at the New Hampshire International Speedway, in Loudon, for the first of the ten races that will determine the NASCAR champion for 2007. Some 101,000 people filled the stands, watchng Clint Bowyer win his first NASCAR race and become a serious contender for the Nextel Cup.

Walking down pit lane, LPR was surprised to find a different tyupe of contender -- Rudy Giuliani -- heading its way. The former mayor was not, so far as LPR could tell, wearing any manner of NASCAR paraphernalia.

Filling up …

Another Fill-er-Up …

LPR caught Bowyer's No. 07 making a pit stop.

Celebrating victory, Bowyer went into a spin that got his engine smoking -- and thus preventing the drive to victory lane.
