New York City's Five Year Plan?

JANUARY 30, 2005 --

Although officials backed down from initial reports that it would take five years to repair damage caused by a fire in the New York subway, LPR wonders if it will take five years to complete restoration of Columbus Circle -- and perhaps even more than five years to fix-up a portico on the southbound roadway of Riverside Drive, opposite Grant's Tomb.

Hearing a report, January 29, that craters were being made in Baghdad streets to thwart terrorists, LPR now understands the presence of so many potholes -- craters -- in New York City, including this
one (please see accompanying photo) between the unrepaired portico and Grant's Tomb, first spotted two weeks ago.

On the subway damage, the estimate has been reduced to 6 - 9 months, LPR hears, and if it takes less -- officials will claim credit for beating the estimate?
