There The New York Times Goes Again

June 15, 2014 --

The Times May 31 editorial, "Dealing with Boko Haram," ended by calling on the government of Nigeria "to attack the root causes of disaffection by reducing corruption; reforming the police and army; and providing jobs, schools and other vital services for all of Nigeria's citizens." This editorial began: "It has been moree than six weeks since nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped by thje Boko Haram extremist group in Nigeria."

The editorial went on to acknowledge: "The militants...have displaced close to half a million people and destroyed hundreds of schools in a wave of terror aimed at establishing an Islamic state in one of Nigeria's poorest regions. How, then, are "schools" one of the ways to deal with the Boko Haram militants or extremists who aim, in part, is to destroy schools and kill or abduct schoolchildren? By the way, aren't the methods of Boko Haram not dissimilar to Taliban methods?
