An important column from former Trump aide Peter Navarro was reprinted in Washington Times, July 25. Here are the opening paragraphs:

"Roughly half of Republicans and over one-third of Democrats believe our country is on the brink of civil war. If such an unthinkable war breaks out, it will be the Democrats’ fault.

"In their quest for power, radical elements within the Democratic Party have abandoned any pretense of fairness, tolerance and justice. In their “woke” new world, Democratic strategists use unscrupulous tactics to skew our election system even as weaponized bureaucracies like the Department of Justice, FBI, and National Archives now under Democratic control seek to destroy the Republican Party and its de facto leader, former President Donald Trump.

"For more than 200 years, Americans lived in a world of paper ballots with strict ID and signature match procedures where only legal votes counted. Today, through bends in the law and sleight of hand by Democratic secretaries of state, Democrats have created a “stuff the ballot box” world where absentee and mail-in voting, universal voting, automatic voter registration, drop boxes, ballot harvesting and relaxed signature match procedures have blown open the doors to fraud."

Mr. Navarro goes on to explain how the Democrats' lust for power endangers the fabric of the country and concludes with this warning to the party, in LPR's view, of rigged elections and election interference:

"And do you not understand that the perverse precedents you are creating through your weaponized bureaucracies and 'woke; attacks will come back to haunt you as soon as Republicans take back Mr. Trump’s America from your cold, 'woke' hands?"

On the matter of a vindictive response to Democrats when a Republican is again elected president, LPR would pause, because there is no doubt that a media that backs Biden/Garland's policy of persecution of Mr. Trump by prosecution would howl in outrage were local, state and federal Republican prosecutors to spends tens of millions of dollars indicting Biden and senior Democrats. Indeed, at that point LPR's idea of amending the Former President's Protection Act of 2012 to prevent retaliatory prosecutions of former presidents might draw enthusiastic support from the media and Democrats -- if only to prevent harassment of a Democrat as Democrats harass Mr. Trump.
