"There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad."
(From Article 13 of the IRM charter.)

August 1, 2014 --

Article 13 of the Charter of the Islamic Resistance Movement (IRM) rejects a peaceful solution to "the Palestinian problem" and calls, instead, for Jihad." (Although the media refers to the Islamic Resistance Movement as "Hamas," LPR believes its full name, translated into English, better conveys its commitment to violence.)

IRM leader Khaled Meshall, said on the CBS program "Face the Nation," July 27 that his organization does not fight Jews as Jews, and is "'ready to co-exist with Jews.'" Article 28 of the IRM charter, however, asserts: "Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims." LPR wonders if the media, not to mention the Obama administration, will ever call attention to the IRM's view of Israel's existence as a Jewish act of defiance against "Islam and the Muslims." LPR wonders if the media, not to mention the Obama administration, will ever call attention to the IRM's rejection of a peaceful resolution of "the Palestine problem" in favor of Jihad against Israel.

President Obama, speaking at Cairo University, June 4, 2009, said that the IRM (he referred to the organization as "Hamas") "must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, recognize Israel's right to exist." Currently, President Obama seems more concerned in prevent ing Israel from defending itself against IRM attack, notwithstanding the administration's pro forma assertions that Israel has a right to defend itself against attack. LPR is not aware of an administration statement acknowledging that the last ceasefire between the IRM and Israel, November 2012, did not end the IRM's commitment to the violent destruction of Israel.

LPR strongly believes it is time that President Obama told the American people that the Islamic Religious Movement is a fundamentalist movement that is committed to the destruction of the Jewish State of Israel. After all. The New York Times, in its lead editorial, July 25, 2014, acknowledged that the organization "is a committed to Israel's destruction."

During his Cairo University address, President Obama indicated that "[t]hreatening Israel with destruction -- or repeating vile stereotypes about Jews -- is deeply wrong" and does not promote peace.

LPR believes that President Obama should acknowledge that the Islamic Resistance Movement, by the terms of its charter, opposes a peaceful resolution of "the Palestinian problem." Thus far, however, President Obama cannot even bring himself to join with Canada's Prime Minister Harper in denouncing the IRM for "deliberately using human shields" in attacking Israel.

In his July 13 statement, Prime Minister Harper also said, "Failure by the international community to condemn these reprehensible actions would encourage these terrorists to continue their appalling actions."

As of July 28, LPR finds no international consensus denouncing the "reprehensible" and "appalling" actions of the IRM in using human shields to deter retaliation from Israel.

From the White House, as reported in the New York Post, July 28, there was a statement on "'the strategic imperative of instituting an immediate, unconditional humanitarian ceasefire...."
