… Or Not Pieces

MARCH 17, 2009 --

The Wall Street Journal, December 5, 1994 had an opinion by by. James Reichley, p.A14, with this title: "Get Ready For 60 Years of GOP Rule."

A Washington Post story, July 15, 1998, p.A8, by staff writer Juliet Eilperin reported that according to House Speaker Newt Gingrich Republicans would "pass 13 annual spending bills, [and] would approve legislation protecting patients, curbing teen smoking, reforming securities legislation, reducing taxes and revamping the public housing system."

These plans, according to Speaker Gingrich, per the Eilperin story, were aimed at clarifying differences between Republicans and Democrats.

{Mention of plans to reform securities legislation is of particular fascination to LPR}
