Obama Observation

SEPTEMBER 3, 2008 --

As of August 28, 2008, we learned that the Democrats are no longer the party of Clinton, or Kennedy; they are now the party of Barack Obama.

LPR was struck that early in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Conventiion, Senator Obama recognized that the economic problems Americans face include credit card debt.

LPR is not aware, however, of any speech by Senator Obama denouncing 30% interest rates, any proposal by Senator Obama to restrain the out-of-control banks.

Several times during his speech the Democratic nominee used the phrase "Now is the time …" He might, of course, have said, "as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, said, 45 years ago today: 'Now is the time …' "

LPR is not clear whether Senator Obama is running against President George W. Bush or Senator John McCain , or both --along with ending the Democratic party's allegiance to insular liberalism (originally McGovern-ism).

LPR wonders why, if Senator Obama wants to bring change to Washington, he has chosen as his running mate a longtime Washington figure, Sen. Joseph Biden.

Candidate Obama demonstrated that he has a flair for oratory, oratory that edges into demagoguery. LPR senses that much of his attack oratory applies more to the speaker, than to his opponent.

LPR has no doubt that, if elected, Barack Obama will show us what an imperial president is really all about.

Listening to his acceptance speech, LPR heard the Democratic nominee for president tell Americans he is ready to get involved in every aspect of our lives.

LPR heard Obama indicate that the change he will bring about will add teeth to liberalism. It is now up to Senator McCain to remind voters that the Founding Fathers gave us a federal government of checks and balances and limited powers; they did not create a government headed by a king.
