We the Motorists Dep't ...

A thought for our city planners. Why is adequate notice not given to motorists, entering Manhattan, of traffic-tieup events? But then, such notice could deter motorists from paying $3 at the Henry Hudson Bridge toll {LPR can remember when this toll was a dime -- yes a dime, ten cents) for the privilege of driving into Manhattan at the speed of 5 miles per hour.

And a rhetorical question for the mayor -- you won't be satisfied until street fairs, festivals, concerts, parades, markets, marathons, biathalons, triathalons keep motorists, on weekends, from every street in Manhattan, will you?

... The Forgotten Man, by Amity Shlaes. This book is a must for anyone who believes FDR and the New Deal brought us out of the Depression, who wonders when the Republican party lost the ability to respond to the Democratic mindset of party before the common good -- and who is convinced that wealthy Republicans should be brought before the bar of political justice (which, cannot be other than injustice).
