Seasons Greetings 2017/2018

May the holiday season bring us peace on earth, good will towards people (including the U.S. president) good health, prosperity and glad hearts.

And, not least, may the idea of a Broadway musical theater repertory company take hold, along with the notion of a nation-wide July 4 celebration of American musicana.

Happy Chanukah. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year

For a report critical on the way government agencies in Charlottesville, Virginia handled the demonstrations last August that included the terrible death of a young woman hit by a motor vehicle, please google: "Independent Review of the 2017 Protest Events in Charlottesville, Virginia."

The Doug Jones Senate win ...

LPR expects that Democrats will see the December 12 win by Doug Jones over Roy S. Moore, in the Alabama election for the U.S. Senate, a long step towards 1) regaining Democratic control of Congress and 2) putting an end to the Trump presidency.  Time, of course, will tell.

LPR Congratulates Rep. Devin Nunes, House Intelligence Committee chairman...

...on being cleared by the House Ethics Committee of sharing classified information. LPR looks forward to hearing from Rep. Nunes, in public, again. Congressional Republicans, please, now, work harder to keep your adversaries from obstructing your service behalf of the American people.

A Suggestion to Congressional Republicans ...

Please consider the possibility that the anti-Trump crowd intends to use the cry of "Obstruction of Justice" to obstruct President Trump in his campaign the drain the swamp.

"Christopher Wray's FBI StoneWall"

That's the title of the Wall Street Journal's lead editorial, December 11, commenting on the new FBI director's evading questions from the House Judiciary Committee on "the bureau's role in the 2016 election."

Noting that "the chief law enforcement office of the United States is the President", the editorial called on the White House to see to it that the FBI responds to congressional requests for documents or face contempt .
charges.   The editorial pointed out:  "The lack of cooperation has become more troubling amid reports that senior career Justice officials have a partisan   [that is, anti-Trump] motivation."

The New York Times on Comey -- He "compromised" the "integrity" of the F.B.I. ...

In its lead editorial, "Bring On the Special Prosecutor," The Times had this to say the FBI head: "James Comey, the embattled F.B.I. director, can't be trusted to be a neutral investigator....--not after his one-sided interference in the 2016 election compromised the bureau's integrity and damaged Hillary Clinton's campaign in its final days." For the left, apparently, only President Trump is not permitted to exercise his First Amendment right to criticize the media and bureaucrat, including members of the intelligence community.

Trump Hate's Impact on Stock Market Predictions?

The New York Times, November 8, 20167 (Election Day) cited economic predictions of a stock market drop from 5 to 15 percent if Trump won the election, while there would be a slight gain of "2 percent" if Clinton won.

LPR's 14th Anniversary!

This edition of Lonely Pamphleteer Review marks our 14th year on the internet. Thank you LPR clicksters, and again, heartfelt thanks to Terri Fassio, our brilliant webmaster, and to her colleagues at skullco.com, without whom LPR would not be possible.

From a David R. Zukerman letter to President Candidate Donald J. Trump, August 10, 2016:

What is the source of media venom against you? Your candidacy threatens to bring renewed vitality to Jefferson's assertion, in the Declaration of Independence, that the just powers of government are based on the "consent of the governed." For leftists, power derives from the consent of the ideologically-committed few and, for them, the proper role of the people is to sacrifice for the favored few."
