Digital Day (with brief comment on the movie "Taken") …

February 17 is the day analog television reception becomes not just outmoded but obsolete, ineffective, kaput, images of snow on the screen. A few weeks ago, LPR got the box that is supposed to receive digital on the analog set. Trying the box out, a few weeks ago, LPR got one channel, in place of the eight analog took in. Still, that working channel brings "24" to LPR. Based on his performance in "Taken," Liam Neeson ought to be given a role on "24" -- unless "Taken" is the first in a series of Neeson action movies. For LPR, Neeson trumps James Bond -- all of them.

LPR almost forgot …

… to wish President Washington a happy birthday for real (February 22).

"24" is back …

For LPR, though, the problem is that lots and lots of commercials are back, too. How much story time per episode these days -- 30 minutes?

And if the program runs on real time, how come, when it hits the next hour, there is still time for a couple more commercials and next week's trailer before the next program (or does news on Fox, after 24, begin a few minutes after the hour)?

If anyone counts how many times Jack says "copy" per episode, please share the number.

LPR Congratulates …

… the Pittsburgh Steelers defeating the Arizona Cardinals 27 - 23 to win Super Bowl XLIII, giving the Steelers a record-breaking sixth Super Bowl victory.

… Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams on winning the men's and women's tennis singles championships at the Australian Open. Nadal (as he did at Wimbledon, last summer) defeated Roger Federer in five sets; Williams defeated Dinara Safina in straight sets, for her fourth Australian title and 10th Grand Slam championship.
