To
the tune, roughly, of "Everything's Up To Date in Kansas City"
Republicans will never thrive in New York City
Their national convention doesn't change a thing or two
They choose to live off Democrats who throw them table scraps
Which keeps them permanently in political collapse
They can't stand for long without falling back in Democratic laps
They'll never go as far as they could ever go
They'll never go as far as they could ever go
Freedom's
Hurrah
If we're to stop
government from kneeing us in the groin
Voters are going to have to stand up, get together and join
To form a brand new party that won't elect a politician
Whose campaign promises translate into self-serving ambition
Say we can't ever
fight City Hall and so should never fuss
Is like saying representative government has nothing to do with us
Let's honor the country's founders and throw the rascals out
Ridding us of their corruption with the might of our liberty shout
Looking Ahead
to the Next LPR . . .

Bridges
Coming Soon
The breaking story about the City's wrongful action against the LPRmobile,
July 16, prevented LPR from beginning its series on bridges for you. That series
will begin soon.
How many Republicans will get summonses betwseen August 30 and September 2,
and on what offense?

Recommends
The Connecticut Agricultural Fair, held on the Goshen Fairgrounds, in Goshen,
Connecticut, July 23 - 25.
These photos, taken at last summer's fair, hint at traditional spectator attractions,
and also at delightful surprises. Not shown is the midway, the rides, the booths,
the food concessions, and the entertainment. LPR is reliably informed that the
structure under construction last year, now stands completed.
Friday night, the Fair will feature an expanded car show, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Entertainers on the Main Stage on Saturday include Thunder Road Band at 4 p.m.,
and Mood Ring (featuring Lance and Larry Hoppen from the band Orleans with
Robbie Dupree) at 6.30 p.m.
Sunday entertainers include Laura Thomas, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Theo Eastwind,
noon and 2 p.m.
UConn women's basketball superstar, Maria Conlon will be at the fair on Saturday
at 1 p.m.
Players from the Torrington Twisters will be signing autographs and posing
for photos with their fans all three days of this great grass roots event in
Goshen, the 37th Annual Connecticut Agricultural Fair. The fair's website is www.ctagriculturalfair.org.

in Two Names?
How soon people Kerry Edwards by name
Will be asked if for the Dem duo they hanker
An obvious part of the media game
Unless next 'twill be the signoff of a new tv anchor

On
Populism -
(Dedicated to John Fund, Wall Street
Journal)
Engage me not in verbal leap-froggery
Populism is not a word for demagoguery
It does not declare war upon class
To contend otherwise is to expel noxious gas
Dear Ms. Ingraham
O Laura Ingraham of vocal nasality
You puncture and deflate leftist rascality
Entranced am I by your tone beguiling
Say we'll do lunch so I can be smiling

The big game, July 8 was between two undefeated teams: Lion King and Beauty
and the Beast.
Beauty prevailed by one run. Earlier, LPR got this shot of the noted actor
Philip Seymour Hoffman playing first base, and at third, across the diamond,
the noted Tim Robbins, who is very much taller than he appears in the photo.
Next Thursday, July 15, the annual old-timers game, followed by the all-star
game. And this year followed by a third game--with one team reported to have
bikini uniforms. LPR will definitely try to get photos of the third game for
its clicksters.

JULY
4, 2004 Some
people, asking LPR if it has seen Fahrenheit 911, the Michael Moore
ABM (Anti-Bush movie), claimed to be surprised that LPR has not seen
it. LPR would rather see a documentary Fahrenheit 1776, showing how
we are relapsing back to the governance that the Founding Fathers sacrificed
greatly to get away from: a governance of hereditary rule, of oppressive
and intrusive laws and rules and, certainly of officials swarming to
consume the substance of the people. That kind of film would celebrate
the Founding spirit. Is it too radical for our day?
LPR's
Missing Photos
LPR inrtended to publish a Duffy Square photo of a lovely daughter-mother duo
from St. Catherine, Ont. Alas, LPR was out of focus. Hopes to have another
chance their next visit. And the photo of three attractive Belgian young women
outside Central Park's Delacorte Theater is now planned for next week's LPR.

The Vice President’s
Euphemism
Now
that Dick Cheney, our Vice President
has used a phrase that is not very nice;
For polite people a chance heaven sent
Telling off people: "Take Cheney’s advice.”

A Pause to Refresh
Us
Please
Founding Fathers, and make Sen. Schumer pause
From rushing to the microphone to announce more laws
Aimed at dealing with his latest concern
Please Founding Fathers, do us this good turn
We have so many laws now on the books
They are getting to resemble official grappling hooks
Camoflaged with legalistic nomenclature
All to repeal… the law of nature?

The July 1 game between
Playwrights Horizons and "Beauty and the Beast" was almost
as exciting as the Yankees-Red Sox game, that night. League games are
seven innings long and Playwrights got one run to take a 5-4 lead,
to the top of the seventh, with two runs, to win the game, 6-5. (The
Red Sox took a one run lead, top of the 13th on a Manny Ramirez home
run, but the Yankees scored two runs, to win that game 5-4, getting
those runs with no men on and two out.)
In one respect, Broadway
seems to differ with the majors. LPR was at the stage door to the Imperial
Theater, before the July 3 Saturday matinee when Hugh Jackman, star
of "The Boy from Oz," arrived. Mr. Jackman was not whisked
through the waiting fans, nor were they cordoned off at some distance
form him. Instead, he chatted with his admirers and signed autographs.
This is not how fans are treated when the players arrive at Yankee
Stadium.
The poster behind
Mr. Jackman proclaims "Broadway's New Megastar!" So much
so, that the show's producers apparently could not find an actor to
take over for him when Mr. Jackman leaves the show -- and it now will
close September 12. LPR has a hunch tickets from now to closing will
be hard to get.
As of this writing,
it was not clear if the Broadway strike threat is over. Apparently
a key issue in the talks between Actor's Equity and the theater owners
and producers league is the use of non-union actors in touring companies.
It is also not clear-- if the matter is not settled and Broadway closes
down-- if the softball games will continue. LPR thinks they should,
hoping of course that the difference between the parties are resolved
amicably-- and quickly.

the July 1 games, and for league standings and schedule, please click
