Observations - March 2008

MARCH 31, 2008 --

LPR Thanks …

… the people who said by recent LPR poll that the Sunday talk shows should be opened up a bit and perhaps even include LPR as participant.

MARCH 31, 2008 --

300,000 Visits for LPR ...

LPR got its 300,000th visit on March 27. Thank you LPR clicksters. And thank you webmaster Terri Fassio and the people at Skullco.com.

MARCH 31, 2008 --

LPR Wonders …

… if  oppressive credit card interest rates were viewed as a heavy private tax on consumers, perhaps those rates would come down -- and consumer spending increase.

MARCH 19, 2008 --

Spring Greetings …

A couplet greeting,
expressing a sentiment
heartfelt and true

Happy holidays and a gloriously joyful spring
-- from LPR to you.

MARCH 19, 2008 --

Advice from Sophocles ...

Spotted by LPR on the side of Westend Collegiate Church in Manhattan:

"'It is not what fate has in store for us that matters, but what we do with it when it comes."

MARCH 19, 2008 --

Meanwhile, LPR is concerned …

… that actions regarded as  "progressive" that are urged to cure  our ills will turn out to have regressive impact, harmful for the long term.

MARCH 11, 2008 --

Political speculation?

Are some people thinking that the Democrats will opt for another presidential candidate other than Senator Clinton or Senator Obama -- say, former Senator and presidential candidate Al Gore?

MARCH 11, 2008 --

LPR apologizes ...

... to the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival for missing its screenings and parties, last week due to anxiety over the more car towing by city marshals.  For news and information on the festival, LPR refers clicksters to its NYIIFVF link.

MARCH 11, 2008 --

More March Madness?

Daylight Savings Times returns March 9 at 2:00 AM …

And spring returns March 20 -- early in the morning 1:48 AM (EDT) in the east and March 19, 10:48 PM (PDT).

Unless one wants to stick with the March 21 tradition.

MARCH 11, 2008 --

Winter Scene …

LPR caught this winter scene not from the old entrance to Camps Wabigoon and Wahanda, on a hill above Winsted.

MARCH 2, 2008 --

Another reason to say  "March Madness"?

The 2008 Major League Baseball season opens March 30 and 31 on U.S. soil, after opening in Tokyo on March 25, with a game between Boston and Oakland.

The House Below East Main Street (Route 202) …

Mamma Mia

LPR noticed this house, in January, sitting adjacent to, and below, the westbound lane of Torrington's East Main Street (a/k/a Route 202).  LPR was struck by this valiant structure, standing close to malls on both sides of the roadway.  This image, symbolizing individuality, was originally scheduled to run two postings ago. LPR is pleased to present it now.

MARCH 2, 2008 --

Mobil Prices, Torrington, CT …

Mamma Mia

LPR was hoping that gas prices in Torrington, CT, would be lower than in New York City, February 20. LPR learned, unhappily, that prices had gone up 25 cents, the night before. Anyone wonder why we are getting hit with a declining economy and higher prices?

MARCH 2, 2008 --

Another Nominee for 2008?

Mamma Mia

This poster was seen at the 2004 demonstration in New York City protesting the Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden.  LPR wonders if the call will be revived this summer.
