LPR hopes that the Spuyten Duyvil branch of the  library will re-open by April 1, and the next LPR posting will appear by April 5, with more reflections on the political phenomenon of  "virus bias."

LPR wishes its clicksters a Happy St. Patrick's Day.

The Pandemic Warning from Dr. Anthony Fauci …

..director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,  suggests that the number of deaths required before a pandemic alert is declared varies inversely with bad feeling towards President Trump, to wit: the greater the bad feeling, the smaller the number of deaths required.    LPR infers this formula based on pandemic talk with U.S. coronavirus deaths, as of March 3, put at 6.

President Trump and the Deaths of Three United States Senators in 1935

Three United States Senators were killed in 1935:  Bronson Murray Cutting (New Mexico), in May; Huey Long  (Louisiana),  in September; Thomas Schall  (Minnesota),  in December. Sen. Cutting was killed flying back to New Mexico, when his plane reportedly ran out of fuel.  Sen. Long, of course, was shot to death.  Sen. Schall,  blind, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle as he was being led across a Washington, D.C. thoroughfare.  His escort was unhurt.    Franklin D. Roosevelt was president in 1935 and all three senators opposed FDR. LPR wonders,  if  Donald J. Trump had been president in 1935, and had been opposed by the three senators, would he have been impeached and convicted of "high crimes," and, after removal from office, indicted for murdering senators Cutting, Long, and Schall.
