Full Disclosure Requested:  What is to become of Yankee Stadium, a/k/a "The House that Ruth Built"?

Ready for the Holiday Season …

Bloomingdales with Christmas season lights taken week before Thanksgiving.

NOVEMBER 28, 2007 --

Mamma Mia …

The University of Oklahoma played and sang "Oklahoma" from the Broadway show of that name as it marched past one of the Broadway theaters closed by the strike.   While the Macy's parade tradition continues, the Broadway tradition that the show must go on seems to have been set aside.

NCAA Division III Cross Country Update …

NYU won the men's title at the Division III cross country championships, under auspices of St. Olaf's college, November 17. Women's title went to Amherst.   Men's individual title went to Tyler Sigl, University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  Women's individual title went to Sara Zerzan, Willamette.  The Atlantic Region's individual men's and women's winners were second at St. Olaf's: Peter Kosgei, Hamilton and Liz Montgomery, Geneseo.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Okay Then, It is LPR's Fault!

LPR noticed report that the stock drop the morning of November 15 was blamed on concern about consumer spending.  LPR confesses that it has been forced, due to payments on 32% credit card interest demands (that should be voided as unconscionable) and an astronomical car insurance monthly remittance, to stop all of its consumer spending.  (A stop that also applies, to considerable extent, to food purchases. Thank you credit-cared issuing banks for this weight-reduction plan.)

LPR calls on all professional athletes, hedge fund managers, corporate executives,   Hollywood celebrities and politicians --and,  yes, the CEOs of the usury-minded banks -- to pick up the slack.

NOVEMBER 20, 2007 --

Good Job, JJ …

LPR congratulates Jimmie Johnson on his second straight Nascar championship and team owner Rick Henderson on his seventh Nascar title. (JJ is shown here in an exclusive photo taken by LPR in midtown Manhattan after his Daytona 500 win, February 2006).

Another AA Desperately Needed …

Here, the AA stands for Aggrandizers Anonymous, and the organization is committed to dealing with addiction to unlimited accumulation of money -- causing enormous harm to the common good.

NOVEMBER 20, 2007 --

Tak Sverige …

Thank you Sweden for your generous LPR clicks, which, among other things, has Stockholm far ahead of the major U.S. cities in visiting this populist website.   What would the Founders think if their legacy is no longer appreciated in the U.S., but lives on in northern Europe?

LPR's Take …

… on news that the price of tickets for the new Mel Brooks musical "Young Frankenstein" reached 450 dineros.

NOVEMBER 20, 2007 --

Sforzando …

Four... hundred... and...  fifty bucks,

for Broadway shows a ticket price nifty.

Affordable if one's pay comes in armored trucks,

or  if,  in other pursuits, you are  thrifty.

Google this:

"Bank oppressive interest rates"

And see who is at the top of the search list

NOVEMBER 10, 2007 --

SNAW …

Nope, that is not wans backwards.  It is an LPR neologism. It comes from the message LPR always  gets from New York lottery bar codes:  "sorry not a winner."    Snaw definitely is preferable to "YAAL" -- you are a loser. Who is a snaw?  Someone who did not buy Google stock, for one thing.

NOVEMBER 10, 2007 --

The pothole …

LPR spotted Texas on 149th Street …

NOVEMBER 10, 2007 --

Stephen King -- Here's an Idea for Your Next Scary Tale …

The many years of Daylight Saving Time somehow  have an impact on the weather of the planet,  as if, along with the clock, the months are pushed back,  causing fall foliage to happen in November, not October, and winter to extend into April and May.  This phenomenon is described as "Global Orbital Dysfunction," causing, among other things, fires and mudslides in California, and incredible gridlock on East 180th Street in the Bronx, at 7:40, every morning.  Plus … the wife of a former president actually becomes president!

The story might be called: Oh G.O.D.

Okay Steve, give it the King touch.

NOVEMBER 10, 2007 --

Finally, Less than a Year Until November 4, 2008 a/k/a Election Day …

LPR predicts that Hillary and Rudy won't be nominated, not even if  Hillary invites Rudy to run as her candidate for vice president.

NOVEMBER 10, 2007 --

"Abusive" Editorializing?

An editorial in The New York Times, November 5, was called:

"Putting an End to Abusive Lending"

Alas, the editorial did not take note of 32% credit card interest rates.

NOVEMBER 2, 2007 --

Frankenstein's Foster Phenomenon …

The musical "Frankenstein" is playing off-Broadway.   "Young Frankenstein,"  in previews as of this writing, opens on Broadway November 8.

"Frankenstein" has Hunter Foster in the title role.   "Young Frankenstein" has Sutton Foster in the role of Inga.

Yes, Hunter and Sutton are related --  brother and sister.

LPR has heard good things about "Frankenstein" -- music by Mark Baron; book and lyrics by Jeffrey Jackson -- from a cousin.  "Young Frankenstein" is the new Mel Brooks musical, based on the Mel Brooks movie of the same name.  Sorry, no cousins have told LPR about YF yet.

The LPR Waterboarding Question …

Previously, LPR suggested that President Bush should leave the post of Attorney General open -- to spare 43 a nominee skewered by Bush-bashers on Capitol Hill. The White House went ahead and nominated Judge Michael Mukasey to be attorney general and the nomination is being skewered by opponents, now seizing upon the "waterboarding" issue.  LPR would ask this question:

Is it better that a terrorist not be interrogated aggressively than one innocent live be saved from terrorism?

Slight variation for the political opponents of the Mukasey nomination:

Is it better that a terrorist not be waterboarded than your daughter be saved from terrorism?
