More thanks from LPR to clicksters in…

Atlanta, Toronto, Taipei, Stockholm, Madrid, Riyadh, Paris, London, Canberra, Boston, St. Louis, Malaysia, Thailand, China, among other places. You gave LPR a 600 day last week -- can we go for 1,000 day next? And let media and officials know we are communicating?

Congrats to the Chisox …

Fitting that the Chisox should win the World Series a year after the Bosox did. That one game ended about 2 A.M. in the east and another about midnight seemed to end "without much notice."

(A report on the Fox TV ratings for the
Chicago-Houston World Series indicated that this world series didn't get much notice from viewers either.)

And the curious rule that the World Series opens at the ballpark of the team in the league that won the All-Star game has, now, the effect of denying the home town a chance to cheer its team the moment of victory.

LPR also wonders that perhaps the post season just include the division winners, with the bye going to the team with the best record in each league.

A Test for Republicans and Media …

Do we have to wait 18 months for you to discover the oppressive cruelty of punitive interest rates on credit cards?

This is to ask LPR clicksters to give word-of -mouth notice of this website and to encourage people that we are not alone in dealing with the elusive elitists and insiders.

A very wise person pointed out to this writer that he is not alone in his anxiety -- it just affects people in different ways. The key is to confront and overcome challenges -- and not to cave in to them.

Who knows, banding together to face
challenge with optimism, we might even offer guidance to the folks we elect to represent us!

Oh yes -- and must we wait 18 months for media and officials to take note of the problems of unretired workers?

Gloomberg for 2008 Republicans and Democrats?

It looks like Michael R. Bloomberg will get a second term as mayor by a landslide. LPR wonders if this will lead to speculation that he could be a serious
contender for the presidency in 2008 -- as the nominee of a third party? Perhaps to be called the Bloomberg party?

So Much Access for One Beltwayite…

David Brooks has a column in The New York Times. He is a regular on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. And he has been appearing on Meet the Press. One man's
great access is another Beltway person's denial; TV time?

An LPR Frank Capra Moment -- Karl Rove Please Note…

Republicans and media continue to stand aloof to our reality. To borrow a phrase from Capra's "Meet John Doe" when a policeman shouts "stand back," he's is not shouting at the politicians. If LPR clicksters would ask politicians and media why they don't take note of the political wisdom in the first half of Federalist 57, how could we not get our officials back on
track?

LPR -- Slightly Ahead of The Times…

The New York Times magazine, October 30, carried on article, "The End of Pensions?" by Roger Lowenstein, that looked to a grim future where "many of the
elderly would be forced to keep working to stave off poverty."

LPR touched on this issue last week and
included some slogans to encourage hiring the unretired.

LPR's major concern is that seniors who must work to have food, clothing and shelter will be taken advantage of.

Last week, LPR looked to CBS News
correspondent Mike Wallace as role model for unretireds.

LPR will take that a step further and here ask Mike to become a spokesperson for unretired people who need to find jobs that will pay them a living wage.

On television, perhaps job opportunities for the unretired would open up a bit if the industry enacted this rule -- call it the David Brooks rule: One person, one TV program.

LPR is still waiting for the media to take note of credit card cruelty and use of parking fines as a tax alternative.

NOTE TO LPR CLICKSTERS:
If we don't speak out against economic bullying by Oil, Credit Cards, Municipalities, WHO WILL?

Another Thank You to LPR
Clicksters …

LPR reached 60 thousand visitors so far this year, on October 23.

Hillary Flowers Watch …

LPR snapped this photo of songwriter / singer Hillary Flowers at Club Deep last week.

Next week, LPR hopes to post photos of the October 22 Curventure fashion show at Deep.

Singer-Songwriter Hillary Flowers, pictured here October 15 at Club Deep in New York.

Hire the Unretired …

LPR announces the formation of a new organization to encourage private industry to employ people who do not have the means to retire.

LPR proposes that the organization be called We Can Work, Too (WCW2).

Eerie Reminder …

LPR snapped this photo of Lexington Avenue in New York City on Wednesday, October 19, of the new building blocking Citicorp Center. It is an eerie reminder of the Twin Towers.

Google Thanks …

Enormous thanks to Google for putting LPR at the top of the search list for "Chase aches"

Role Model …

OCTOBER 18, 2005 --

Gas Price Watch …

LPR was in Torrington, Connecticut, October 14 and noticed that gas prices
are still going lower.

At a Citgo station, prices dropped another five cents after this photo was taken.

With reports that inflation was way up, last quarter, in large part because of the summer's gas price spike, LPR expects Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan will continue to raise interest rates, claiming the Fed must act further against inflationary pressures.

LPR is not convinced, however, that the way to deal with gas price spikes is by tinkering with interest rates, particularly when it seems that gas prices are retreating without action by the Federal Reserve.

Request Rejected …

The Hartford Courant ran a letter, October 14, suggesting that the paper should stop "putting sports articles or pictures on Page 1..."

The paper's front page, October 14 carried a photo of players on the UConn women's basketball team.

Nascar Watch …

LPR saw a full page ad on the back page of the sports section of The New York Times, October 13, with a photo of Nascar driver Mark Martin, currently seventh
in Nextel Cup competition. Tony Stewart leads the Nextel Cup standing.

LPR carried a photo of Martin a few weeks ago -- but not aware, at the time, that he is on the Viagra Racing Team. Martin was saluted by Viagra for winning the Banquet 400 -- held in Kansas City, Mo., one of the Nextel Cup Races.

Presidential Popularity Watch …

Amid reports that the popularity of President Bush continues to drop, LPR suggests that the White House mention the advice given in Federalist 57 that our
leaders should stand with the people -- and then follow that advice. How about pro-consumer comments on gas prices and punitive credit card interest rates
for starters, Mr. President?

Yom Kippur 5766 …

Yom Kippur -- the Day oif Atonement -- is a day of fasting, of prayer, but also of joy. It could, perhaps, also be seen as a day when we place God between us and anxiety. We ask God to forgive us, to grant us another year of life, including, among other things, good health, and sustenance -- earning our keep, not impoverishment.

This is not to suggest that we have no part in determining our destiny for the year -- still, this writer has an idea that bloggers, but for the Grace of the Almighty, would appear on Meet the Press, Nightline, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, as well as, say, reporters from the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post -- and receive lecture fees, accordingly.

Note from the Webmaster …

Due to the recent storms on the West Coast earlier this week, (and subsequently, disruptions of power and internet), this edition of LPR is posted late. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused the LPR readers.

OCTOBER 9, 2005 --

Gas Price Watch …

Gas prices seem to be edging down -- and not going to $4 as one "oil industry analyst" warned, a few weeks ago. LPR noticed, October 6 that all prices at this
Torrington Mobil station were below $3. It has been weeks since LPR saw all prices below $3 at a gas station. LPR hopes they go much lower, for the common good.

Torrington, CT Mobil Station on October 6th.

Artifacts …

Cleopatra's Needle. This ancient artifact stands in Central Park
behind the Metropolitan Museum.

This more modern artifact, the Chrysler Building, stands at the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and 42nd Street.

OCTOBER 2, 2005 --

On the Organization Chart …

LPR was visited in September by three universities Harvard,University of Texas at Arlington, and Virginia Commonwealth University. LPR hopes that the visitors
are spreading Federalist 57 populism around the campuses.

Visiting organizations include Microsoft. (LPR would not reject a grant from the Gates Foundation) and Cox Communications (LPR would not rule out a syndication offer.)

Gas Price Off-Shoot …

There was a report, September 28 that higher gas prices are resulting in late credit card payments. That of course should be good news to the credit card
companies who can be expected to hit the late payers with the legally usurious interest rates that LPR has been taking note of.

In the Driver's Seat …

Robin Hall is executive director of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. LPR got this photo of him at the driver's seat, last Sunday on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. On Thanksgiving Day he is seen walking at the head of the Macy's parade, seat of that annual event that attracts throngs of people young and old alike, and brings marching bands from all over the country to New York City. And the next Macy's parade is less than two months away.

Brief Note on Anxiety…

This writer has learned, alas from experience, that one does not know what anxiety is, until getting hit with it.

How wrong I was to tell another to just go
and overcome anxiety. It isn't quite that simple. And in overcoming anxiety, the path is not necessarily a straight one.

This writer now knows that one can feel strong, like one's old self, in the evening, and wake the next morning with a sense of anxiety -- even more -- alarm. The counsel of well-meaning people to think positive and to take each day at a time are welcome -- but when anxiety strikes -- often without notice, one is fortunate to have some medication to aid in the battle, along with welcome support from friends.

The Beginning of a new stadium?

LPR noticed some drilling on the field, across from Yankee Stadium, that is to be the location of the new ballpark for the New York Yankees. LPR has a hunch
that the drilling indicates that work is getting underway and that, indeed, the Yankee Stadium of today will, in a few years, be just a memory.

Some Hopes for 5766 …

The coming week marks the beginning of the year 5766 according to the Jewish calendar. May this year bring only good things to people, and dispel any basis of
anxiety. May 5766 bring peace and comfort and good health and prosperity to all. And May 5766 be the year when our leaders recognize the wisdom of the counsel of Federalist 57.

President Bush and Gas Prices …

President Bush spoke out on the subject of high gas prices last week -- suggesting that we drive less. LPR has not done a scientific survey on the subject, but has a hunch that a lot of motorists are driving less these days -- which might have something to do with gas prices about the same as the week before, so far as LPR could tell.

President Bush and Usury …

President Bush did not speak, last week, on the subject of punitive credit card interest rate, going considerably higher than 20% that are crushing hapless citizens. For that matter, no public official has criticized these obscene interest rates, to LPR's knowledge.

OSSANE …

LPR wonders that an upcoming social/economic issue will take note of persons on social security who need employment to make ends meet -- hence, OSSANE, On Social Security And Needs Employment.

Is LPR concerned about this? You betcha. Unless foundations deem populist websites deserving of grants.
